Practice Learner Licence Theory Tests

The practice licence tests can help you become familiar with and prepare for the theory test you will need to pass when applying for a learner licence. These tests are conducted on the NZ Transport Agency's computerised theory testing system.

Practice Tests - Summary

  • Each test consists of 35 questions
  • Questions are randomly generated from a pool of over 350 official test questions
  • Every time you take a test, a different set of questions are asked
  • Pass mark is approximately 93%
  • At the end of each test you will receive your test result and you will be directed to the relevant section of the road code for questions you answered incorrectly, so you can study that section of the road code more thoroughly
  • The practice tests are identical to the computer test you will complete to get your learner licence and will help you become familiar with the official test

Practice tests are available for

  • Motor car, light motor vehicle
  • Medium rigid vehicle (Class 2)
  • Medium combination vehicle (Class 3)
  • Heavy combination vehicle (Class 5)
  • Motorcycles, Moped, or ATV
  • Tests are available in different languages like Arabic, Chinese Simplified and Traditional, English, Gujurati, Hindi, Korean, Maori, Punjabi, Samoan and Tongan.
